LONG LIVE SUMMER – TRAVEL MICHIGAN CAMPAIGN BEGINS
When you think of a summer vacation and soaking up the sun on a warm sandy beach, your first thought might not include staying in Michigan. Pure Michigan wants to change that. As part of Travel Michigan’s efforts to increase awareness about activities or “passion-based travel opportunities”, they created the Long Live Summer campaign.
Travel Michigan is Michigan’s official tourism promotion office that provides travel information to the public. In addition to their new campaign, they are also launching their yearly warm weather advertising campaign to encourage summer activities in Michigan for travelers as well as Michiganders.
“Michigan has so much to offer visitors, and we continue to add leading-edge technologies to the campaign to further inspire visitors to look to Michigan for their perfect summer vacation,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The campaign will include a new website to offer its visitors easy access to finding their perfect Michigan vacation spot. The Vacation Finder feature will allow users to choose activities they are most passionate about, directing them to the vacation sight of their choosing. For the tech savvy, the campaign encourages using the hashtag #LongLiveSummer on their social media platforms to engage with other Michigan travelers. Merchandise will also be available on the Pure Michigan store’s website.
It won’t stop there. The warm weather advertising campaign this year will feature radio, television, billboards, bus wraps and digital efforts that reach throughout the Great Lakes region; welcoming travelers to plan a vacation in Michigan. The billboards will be placed in select out-of-state markets including Chicago, where they will see digital billboards from early May through Labor Day.
Sure, Michigan isn’t Florida, but it doesn’t need to be: After all, we have the Great Lakes.
