Burcham Hills names new foundation director

Burcham Hills has appointed Lesa Smith, former Central Michigan University development professional, as director of the Burcham Hills Foundation.

“Smith will focus on continued growth of the foundation,” explains Pam Ditri, Burcham Hills executive director, “and furthering its mission of creating funding opportunities to enhance the specialized programs and services of the Burcham Hills Community.”

Smith joins Burcham with more than 26 years of fundraising and development experience, including nine years as director of development for CMU’s College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences and four years as program administrator and development coordinator for the State Bar of Michigan.  She also served as assistant director of development for Michigan State University and as director of member benefits and services for the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Founded in 1974, Burcham Hills, a not-for-profit, life plan community, offers quality living in its Resident Center and short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing care in its Center for Health & Rehabilitation.  Burcham also offers onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy to the public in its Outpatient Therapy Clinic.  The Burcham Hills Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), was incorporated in 1998 and accepts tax-deductible contributions from corporations, businesses and individuals.
