LANSING’S INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EMPOWERMENT CENTER RECEIVES A $20,000 DONATION FROM THE JACKSON NATIONAL COMMUNITY FUNDThe Information Technology Empowerment Center (ITEC) of Lansing is pleased to announce the Jackson National Community Fund’s $20,000 sponsorship. The donation will go toward improving ITEC’s Techtronics program. Techtronics consists of several courses that offer students the opportunity for hands-on education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Coursework covers an array of subjects. Students are taught the fundamentals of programming and game theory by designing, developing and coding their own mobile apps, websites and videogames. Likewise, kids are given a chance to get hands-on engineering experience using LEGO to build and program robots. In addition to an active learning environment, students are given the opportunity to talk to working professionals about potential futures in STEM. The Jackson National Community Fund supports programs and organizations that are dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and seniors in the communities in which employees live and work. The $20,000 will allow ITEC to continue providing technology skills to children through tutoring, coursework and hands-on instruction.
