Twenty-five years ago the dream of creating a great performing arts facility came to life with the opening of Wharton Center. It was a proud occasion for Michigan State University, the state of Michigan and all those who envisioned a modern performing arts facility in the heart of the state. Wharton Center stands not only as a tribute to Dr. Clifton and Dolores Wharton, but also to all those who made this facility possible.
Wharton Center has announced its 2009-2010 season lineup which includes some of the hottest shows on Broadway including Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. This beloved musical arrives at the Wharton Center just in time for the holiday (December 8-13, 2009). The musical tells the story of two showbiz buddies putting on a show in a picturesque Vermont inn, and finding their perfect mates in the bargain. The play is full of dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written, including Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep, Sisters, How Deep is the Ocean and the unforgettable title song, White Christmas.
