LCC on Cutting Edge of Technological Education

When it comes to cutting-edge technological education, students seeking a career in robotics, automation, engineering, agricultural technology and more need not look any farther than the Greater Lansing area.

In fact, one of the nation’s top technical schools is right in the heart of downtown Lansing.

Lansing Community College was ranked second best technical school in the nation – among 704 other schools – by Real Work Matters, a resource hub for students who are interested in vocational, trade or technical training after high school.

“LCC had one of the widest selections of programs available for students interested in technical training at the certificate and associate degree level,” the Real Work Matters website noted. “As one of the largest community colleges in Michigan, LCC is also more affordable than many schools in our ranking.”

LCC began offering basic instruction in robotics and automation in 2014. In 2017 LCC opened its Center for Manufacturing Excellence, a state-of-the-art facility teaching not only robotics, but also containing a full assembly line scenario.

The community college also ranks fifth in Michigan for 2019 by for its work in automation and robotics. The organization bases each school’s ranking on a compilation of data from reliable government sources, student surveys, college graduate interviews and editorial review.

LCC also teams up with Michigan State University to offer instruction and certification in agriculture technology. LCC students obtain their core education classes in Lansing and then apply to attend MSU’s Institute of Agricultural Technology in East Lansing.

With LCC at the forefront of the latest workplace technology, students of today could be skilled workers of tomorrow, filling the skilled trades gap that currently exists.
