LANSING BREWING COMPANY UNVEILS IN-HOUSE CANNING MACHINE

Distribution is expected to increase significantly with help of new production tool

Lansing Brewing Company (LBC) hosted a special unveiling of its new in-house canning machine Aug. 14, 2018, which will change the way LBC beer distributes to fans throughout the state and beyond. Guests had the privilege of witnessing the first of many runs of freshly canned LBC brews pass through the production line.

The new machine will allow LBC to reach beer fans in markets they never had the opportunity to engage with before, catapulting LBC to the next level as a brewery. The local favorite will now be capable of meeting the demands of distribution and competing for market share and renown among some of the nation’s top breweries.

“Having our own canning machine provides us the autonomy to run product dependent on our schedule. Products move at different rates throughout the year, so it allows us to keep the product as fresh as possible and reduce the amount of overhead we have on hand,” said Sawyer Stevens, head brewer at LBC.

The new production line, dubbed “Mother Goose,” can produce about 2,500 cans an hour. Having an on-site machine will allow LBC’s team to be more agile in the canning and distribution process. Beyond controlling output, LBC’s team will be able to add additional beers to their canning lineup beyond the three fan-favorites that can already be found on store shelves.

“LBC is extremely proud to bring production and manufacturing back to our downtown area,” the brewery said in a statement. “The overwhelming community support has allowed us to grow and expand beyond our wildest dreams in the three short years we have been brewing beer. That is why we declare on every single beer can we produce that we are proudly and loudly Lansing Made.”
