The Michigan Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (MACVB) is an organization represented by 47-members from throughout the State of Michigan. MACVB serves as the advocate for its members through education and communication, while also representing their legislative interests.

Legislative interests of MACVB members include but aren’t limited to: dredging, fishing/hunting regulations, invasive species in the Great Lakes, linear trails (motorized and non-motorized), post-Labor Day school starts and funding for the Pure Michigan Tourism Marketing Campaign.

The MACVB celebrates its 43rd anniversary this year, and recently named its officers for the 2018 calendar year. The newly elected officers include:

President: Linda Hoath of Sault Ste. Marie

Past President: Jack Schripsema of Lansing

Vice President: Chris Rowley of Mount Pleasant

Secretary: Amanda Wilkin of Charlevoix

Treasurer: Bob Lukens of Muskegon

Members at Large: Linda Frybler of Calhoun County and Tim Hygh of Mackinaw Island.

Hoath has served in several volunteer leadership roles with MACVB and is the executive director of the Sault Ste. Marie Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“I am excited to serve as president of MACVB,” Hoath said. “This association represents destination-marketing organizations from around the state who work with Michigan’s tourism industry, and we partner with Travel Michigan to promote our great state. It is an honor the represent my peers, and I will look forward to the year ahead with MACVB.”
