Using DemographicsNow in MeL Business

Using DemographicsNow: Businesses & people in the Michigan eLibrary’s business portal, business owners/entrepreneurs can produce comprehensive business and residential lists as well as detailed demographic reports, maps that “visualize” trends, and customized customer reports through uploading their own customer or business data and blend it with rich consumer information, like demographics, psychographics, and Experian consumer segments.

Looking for demographics to better understand your location and customer base?  You can access a demographic report on any U.S. geography—or compare multiple geographies—for information on income, housing, race, age, education, retail spending, consumer expenditures, businesses, and more. Drill down geographically by state, county, zip code, congressional district, metro CBSA, and more.

Looking for existing businesses to market to or compare with your own?  You can search for an individual company or create a mailing list of multiple companies from more than 23 million businesses. Searches can be refined by company name, executive title, business type, number of employees, credit rating, and more. Includes out-of-business listings back to the year 2000.

How about actual people?  Search for individuals, friends, relatives, or create a market research list from more than 206 million U.S. residents organized in 135 million households. Search by name, address, or telephone number—or by a variety of U.S. Census neighborhood data averages.

DemographicsNow is a powerful tool, but it does have EZ Reports and Tutorials built right in on the home page that you can run for quick data and to learn more about how to use this eResource in MeL to its best advantage.  You can also watch recorded webinars from a content trainer on the more in depth features of DemographicsNow at http://bit.ly/2crn2Kt. Please ask at your local library if you have any additional questions about DemographicsNow or any of the resources found in the Michigan eLibrary and particularly in MeL Business.
