May Ribbon Cuttings in Lansing’s Old Town Neighborhood
The new businesses just keep coming in Lansing.
On May 13, a series of new shops and businesses in Lansing’s Old Town district celebrated their new endeavors with a parade of ribbon cuttings, hosted by Mayor Virg Bernero.
“Your success is my business,” Bernero told business owners after each ceremony. Bernero shook hands with each business owner individually, giving them each his card and letting them know that he’s glad they’re investing in Lansing.
The honored ventures were Matthew Ryan Salon, the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association, The Standard Hair-Lash-Brow, Metro Retro Boutique, The Old Town Professional Building, Scoops Ice Cream Parlor, and Retail Therapy Boutique.
Many shops are bringing new concepts to the Old Town market with their start ups: The Standard Hair-Lash-Brow being a specialized salon is a good example, as well as Metro Retro, a vintage/eclectic boutique and the Old Town Professional Building, a great space for new businesses to start up. Other shops, such as Matthew Ryan Salon, Retail Therapy Boutique and the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association had existed in previous locations prior, but recently made Old Town their home.
